Steffon Thomas

Certified CrossFit Level 1 Coach

Born and raised in the Bronx, New York, I found my way to Ohio for college, where I walked on to the DIII basketball squad and track team at my school. During my junior year I suffered a catastrophic knee injury that effectively ended my collegiate career and set me up for a life of dealing with chronic knee pain. Thanks to several stints of physical therapy that pain has been manageable.

Still, I continued to look for ways to further regain mobility and strength in my right leg. In 2016, upon the recommendation of a friend (who didn’t even know about my injuries) I tried CrossFit and within just a few months I was already beginning to see positive results.

I didn’t immediately fall in love with the methodology, but I did quickly grow very fond of the people and the community at my gym. And then, after a couple of years of inconsistency I finally made up my mind to dive all the way in, and it was at that point I realized that CrossFit was going to be a part of who I am for the rest of my life. In the fall of 2023 I went for my Level 1 Training Certification with the full intention of becoming coach, as I truly enjoy inspiring and motivating others, and because I have recognized the importance of helping people live healthy and active lifestyles.

My wife and I have three amazing children and a super cute cat named Ikki. For my day job, I’m a professional writer, editor, and creative consultant who does work in everything from academics to marketing to entertainment.

I’m so excited for the opportunity to work with you and I look forward to seeing you at CrossFit Fenix.
